Add a background picture

Under Review

The Background feature adds a picture behind a entire page like a watermark. Select Background in the Document area of the ribbon to open the Background window.

Select picture

A picture file can be selected from any folder accessible to the computer; or an image can be copied from another source (i.e. a web page) and pasted into the preview box using Ctrl-V or by right clicking the preview box and selecting Paste Image.

Tip

By default, the Select Picture option will open the clipart folder included with the Math program.

Clear picture

Use the Clear Picture feature to remove the picture from the preview box.

Note

It is not necessary to clear the picture from the preview box to remove the picture from the worksheet page. The Visible option will keep the picture from showing on the worksheet pages and in the picture in the Background preview box.

Visible

Select the Visible box to have the background picture appear on the worksheet. Deselect the Visible box to hide the background picture.

First page only

Select the First Page Only box to have the background picture show only on the first page of a document. If not selected, the image will appear on each page of a multi-page worksheet.

Opacity

The background image can be made lighter or darker by adjusting Opacity. The smaller the number the lighter the image. The range is from 1 to 100.

Stretch background

Select from three different sizing settings:

  • Margins - the image stretches out to the margin settings, which can appear beyond the printed area of the page in some cases

  • Printable Area - the image appears behind just the printed area of the page

  • Page Edges - the image is stretched out to the page edges, but is only possible for prints that have this feature, and in most cases, borderless printing must be set for the printer properties
