Add a picture

The Picture design element provides a method for adding pictures to the math document.

  1. Select Design Elements on the ribbon and then select Picture.

  2. The is opened.

  3. Select a picture, or locate another file on your computer with pictures to choose from, or paste a copied image into the editor.

  4. Click OK, and the picture is added to the document. The options pane has a variety of settings for further customizing a picture.

Change or edit the picture

To change or edit the picture, open the . There are two ways to open the picture editor:

A. Select the Picture option in the options grid and press the ellipsis button.

or

B. Double-click an existing picture on the document.

Change how the picture is sized

  1. Select the Size Mode option in the options pane.

  2. Select Normal mode (which maintains the picture's aspect ratio) or Stretch mode (mode stretches the picture width to fill the picture frame).

Tip

Stretch mode can be used to create an interesting art-line across a page or column. Select Stretch for Size Mode and then adjust Picture Size to about 20 to make the picture both wide and narrow.

Adjust the size of the picture

Sets the height of the picture in 100ths of an inch (25 = 1/4 inch, 40 = 1 cm).

  1. Select the input field for the Size Adjustment option in the options pane.

  2. Type a new value in the field or use the up and down arrows to increase or decrease the value. Valid range: 10 to 800.

Note

The picture width is automatically adjusted to maintain the image's aspect ratio. This setting is only an adjustment and does not change the actual size of the image in the Picture editor.

Change the alignment

  1. Click on "Alignment" in the options.

  2. Choose from Left, Center, or Right

  3. Select the Alignment option in the options pane.

  4. Select Left, Center, or Right alignment.

Add a Border

To show a border around an object, click the Border option in the options panel. Then, check the boxes for the sides you want to see the border on. Uncheck the boxes for the sides you don't want a border on.

Change the color

  1. In the options panel, find and select "Color."

  2. Click the three dots (ellipsis) in the color box to open the color picker.

  3. Choose the color you like.

  4. Click "OK" to save your choice and apply the new color.

Change the line width

  1. Click on "Width" in the options panel.

  2. Type a number between 0 and 10, or use the up/down arrows to adjust the width of the line.

Round the corners

Click in the check box for "Rounded" in the options panel. Uncheck the box to set the border back to square corners

Adjust the padding

Sets the padding (extra white space) around the element in 100ths of an inch (25 = 1/4 inch, 40 = 1cm).

  1. Select the Padding option in the options pane.

  2. Select a side (left, right, top, or bottom) to change the value for that side.

  3. Type a new value in the input field or use the up and down arrows to increase or decrease the value. Valid range: 0 to 100.
